Hi, for awhile I've had my eye on a (not sure if this the right name) Chevelle Malibu 427 (think its a 1972 model), not positive if it's an SS or not. Been awhile since I've strolled past the car.
But anyways, it never moves and is begining to rust. I love cars and I hate seeing classics rot. Is there anything special I should know about this car before I try an aquire it? Like how rare parts are, would it be worth anything after restoration (it doesn't look like a good raceing car, maybe drags, I'm looking for a good raceing car for tracks).

It is hard to tell anything from the information you have given. There are cars like that everywhere and what you will find is a owner that will very rarely sell the car. He is going to restore is someday, Yeah right!!! Ask him anyway and try to get more exact information. Year, engine, trans & vin code if possible. I wish you more luck than I have had with cars like that.

If your looking to race the car, I wouldn't think the need for "correct parts" would be an issue as compared to a guy that wants to restore the car. You'll probably take more things OFF the car, than putting back on. See if he'll sell it ....good luck.

If your looking at it and you can see rot, I will be willing to bet its 2-5 times worse than what you see. Figure on spending some $$$ if you want to re do it. Trust me I have been down this road before it ain't fun.
These cars were not built to be rust proof. Unlike todays cars which are ALMOST cancer free, as they are built from the factory with much better preventive measures.

I'm going to take take my permit test tomorrow then to see if I can track down the owner. So hopefully I'll have some luck with the both of those. :D
