Ok here is my Dilema. I really want to get back into bracket racing, but dont want to search around for another car to build. I have the 66 Elky and the 69 Chevelle. I am thinking on pulling the Muncie out of the Elky and installing my TH400, stall converter, and all the misc parts I have and go racing. I I have a 396 thats in it and it runs good (went 11.7 in my firts 69 Chevelle) all I really need to do to get it ready is to work on it. I havent made much progress on getting it on the road as a driver because of one thing or another (mostly lack of motivation) and I want to get started on the frame off on the 69. Do you guys think I should use the Elky for racing (I wont modifly anything on it that cant be undone) or search for another car? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I would think the elky would be hard to hook up. But I have never owned one so...........

They do tend to spin a lot, find a cheapo nova body, they are on ebay for like 800 bucks light, and with a big block, they do tend to fly

Depending on how much you have, or want to spend, I'd get the first $50 body that came alone, Nova, 80's Malibu, 70-80's or up to 90ish Camaro, and go with it. You can make a reliable 12 sec car pretty easy with one of them. I'd use the cheapest junkyard dog motor and trans I could get. S10's and mid 60's trucks are also cheap and popular.
My toy started as a $50 parts car, and has been more fun that almost anything else I have owned. Got some more in it now, but I've had it for 9 years. Ran a new best last night of 7.71 in the eighth, on motor, and a 7.54 on a small hit of spray in 2nd and 3rd.
If you are careful and think about what you want, it can be done inexpensively.
Love this stuff.

Well I have decide that I am going to use the Elky for now and if I come across something really cheap in the future I will park the Elky and transfer all the parts over to whatever I get. I have everything except the gears and I am going to order a ring and pinion tomorrow. I should be able to have it on the track in the next 2 weeks if everything goes as planned. If anyone has any advice to lend feel free to I would appreciate it. here is the combo let me know what you think it will run if it hooks.
