This question comes from a fellow Chevelle owner who is not on the internet and has written our Club for the answer to his question. Although not a member of the Club (he lives in Palm Desert California) I figger he's entitled to a proper answer. Here is his question which came in a recent letter:
"Can you please help? I have a '69 Chevelle and would like to paint the hood and trunk black stripes that were on the '70 Chevelle. Was this an option from the factory on the late '69?"

Not an option on a '69, although lots were done by dealers after the '70s hit the market. '69 SS only could get the 'side' stripe.

I agree with Dave even though it can be found in some restoration book to the contrary (along with other erroneous information)

according to chevelle restoration guide,stripes were an option in very late 69 the last few production months,,,,,

Thanks a bunch for the information! I'll pass on what we have here to our writer and suggest he do some research and make up his own mind as to the appropriateness of the stripes on his ride.
