As much as i need that darn thing. i will just let someone else be the lucky owner. i am still wondering about the little square notch that is on the inside where it sits on the carburator. i have never seen a real one up close that i can remember. how did all that air go through those little holes on the end of the snorkels

my question is the square notch in the middle. i thought that, that was for a quadrojet to align breather around accellerator pump?

Q jet and GM Holleys take the same notch dealie. Holley needs the humped clearance in the front and rear for needle & seat clearance. This air cleaner has the humps. Why not pick this puppy up in person and call the trip a "business expense".... after all, it is in Hawaii.

i'm sorry, but that is what is wrong with this hobby, too many people are paying god awful amounts for NOS stuff. I for one, won't play that game. Apparently there are a lot of idiots with a lot of money out there

Thanks for the info. I am the high bidder on it, but haven't even broken his reserve. I knew it was worth between $1K and $2K. I am surprised that these aren't being reproduced.

if that is all that you needed to finish a project i guess it would be ok. but if you have a long way to go then it would be a wise decision to waite. well i am poor that is just my two cents.

Only one intake valve is open at a time and the size of the air cleaner inlets exceed the diameter of the valve.

I agree. If the project is nearly done and you are aiming for a 100 point car then a couple of grand would be worth it for the correct rare air cleaner.

Mar 11th, 07, 12:07 AM
ok i am lost with the get off the crack now. was that a yeah or neah. on the 2500.00 breather. lets say you are at barrett and a guy just offered you 100,000.00 for your LS6 AND when he found out that you didn't have the breather he was not interested wouldn't you feel that 2500.00 was a good deal. now i know that it is a little hard to believe but that could happen and it would really suck. but in my case if he had a problem with my car and told me that i would tell him that the price is 1,000,000.00 sorry for the inconvience.:D  :noway:

And you were wondering about paying 15K on another thread for a clone? PS, I'm surprised it didn't actually go for a little more as these are very hard to find.

No suprise here, it brought what it was worth. Last one I sold was $2800 and that was 2 years ago. Rare items like this rarely bring less than they are worth. Always somebody who needs one.

Hey Jeff, as I always value the opinion of an expert, what would your guess to be, as to what these rims are worth? 2 AO 4-19's and 2 AO 4-20's, they are still in the box and have only been out for pictures. They have never had a tire mounted on them nor a lug bolt to tighten them. They show slight rust on the beads and a lousy factory spray job for a finish. However, they are the real deal. They may be the only set in the country that exists in the boxes, I may be wrong, but I can't imagine there's many more. I'm really not asking you to put a value on these because to me they are PRICELESS, as are the Dual Snorkles and the 1300. Tiger Paw spare ls6ragtop just bought and everyone laughed at. I guess I'm just trying to shed a little light on what you can really spend trying to do a car completely right. It's not cheap and I for one can completely understand where the prices are coming from! Just my .02 Thanks for your many recent posts, they are very enlightening and informative.

An LS-6 dual snorkel air cleaner was purchased this weekend at the AACA Kyana swap meet for $100. No I did not get it but a friend of mine did. I am sure it will be on Ebay soon!

Just goes to show that this stuff is STILL out there at junkk meets!

Obviously you disagree with someone paying a lot of money for something they want or need. Those "idiots" you refer to must be doing something right if they can afford to pay what you consider "aweful amounts" for a NOS part for their car. It's all relative really...$5,000.00 to me is a lot of money but to some it's like $5.00 and that's just not going to change. The list of BILLIONAIRES in America just rose by 19%. I agree with you, it's not a game a lot of people would or even could play. I am SO glad I have a clone/custom and don't have to have NOS parts. I have purchased NOS but only the stuff like tail lights and parts that are affordable. I hope it changes but as the NOS pool gets smaller and smaller, it's only going to get worse.
:beers:

I saw the same air cleaner assembly NEW IN THE BOX FROM GM NOS sell for over 6k,yes thats not a typo $6,000 on ebay approx a year ago.

But if its going on a true real #'s matching restored LS6 that goes for $100,000+ then i guess it all realtive.

But this kind of stuff puts these parts out of reach for all but the rich which most of us are not .

Hi Mike,
The wheels are very nice. I really do not whant to speculate since there would be no previous sale to reference, and since you do not want to sell them anyway............ Lets just say they are worth a lot to the right buyer.

Prices continue to amaze us all sometimes, even those of us in the business, but if you need something, there are very few places to find them anymore. We all have had to adjust our way of thinking in the last few years.

Your welcome on the posts, and thanks for your kind words. We can all learn from each other, if we keep an open mind.
