Wounder if black stripes were an option on Forest Green 70 SS? Mine is Forest Green and no stripes but I would like to put black stripes on it. I've only seen them with white stripes. Also wounder if you could get a flapper hood without stripes? I read you had to get stripes with the cowl induction but not with a plain SS hood. Just bought cowl induction hood now I have to put stripes on it. Is this true?

Well Bob, I am by no means a 70 expert but will give you a couple of opinions. If Forest Green is the actual "dark" green for that year, then Black stripes were probably not available????
As far as the flapper hood wihout the stripes, I believe you could order the flapper hood with hood pins but get the "stripe delete"?????
Hopefully a 70 expert can jump in here and be more definitive.

Thanks Don,
I may go without stripes. White stripes have so much glare that I can't see the "cowl induction" script from more than 5 feet.
Sure would like to put black ones on it.
Does anybody else want to put in their 2 cents?

Black stripes against dark green paint would be very difficult to see. There used to be a '70 Super Bee in my home town back in the 70's. It was Sherwood (dark) green with black 'C' stripes down the side. You almost couldn't see them. I also remember seeing an immaculate '70 Mach I in gloss block with flat black striping (factory!). You had to look at it a certain angle to see them.

Only white stripes were available with forrest green.
Stripes were standard on cowl induction hoods however, they could be deleted.

Frank Z gave you good info. You could delete the stripes on a cowl induction hood.
