I have a high spot on my 69 El Camino where the body contours. What is the best way to knock down this high spot. Should the area be heated up and hammered? or should I use a shrinking hammer without heat and lightly tap the area down and the fill with bondo?
This will be the second fix for this panel, I tried getting the prep work done too fast and now I get to start over again.

SS, the first thing that you need to ask yourself is "why is this high spot here?". A high spot is not the same as a low spot (dent). It's easy to understand and explain the dent, but a high spot, how did it happen? It is most likely caused by a low spot near it. When you have a factory crown in the metal (every panel does in some way) and it gets dented, the metal needs to go somewhere, so it pushes up in an area near the "dent". What you need to do is look right around this high spot for the low spot, I suspect this high spot is a "brow" to a low spot. It could also be more dastardly because the rear of the quarter has been hit and is down or up! UGH!
So look it over and see can find. If none of this makes sense, tell me EXACTLY where this high spot is. We need to get to the bottom of it's origin, before we jump into repairing it.

I will post an image of the high spot rather than trying to explain where it is. I think that might be easier.
