i just purchased powerglide trans. trying to keep car close to original. i need speedo gear retainer. i think that is right term. the piece that bolts onto tail housing that holds speedo gear and cable screws onto it. it was gone from tranny. where could i get this piece? any interchange? please help.

Any local transmission repair shop will probably have a bunch of them or you can get one from your local GM dealer parts department.

so do i need one for powerglide or will they interchange? thanks

You can interchange with one from a TH350 Chevy but not BOP TH350.

I think a manual 4 speed or 3 speed may also work.

This is one of those parts that come 5 to a bag, that nifty little retainer with the hole in one end for the bolt.

A muncie, PG, TH350 all share this part.

Hey that's a good way to describe that thing:) Well if he needs that it's the same as well, I think GM calls it a speedo bullit. I have part numbers for all this stuff.:beers:
