After two misshaps my beautiful fenderwells are know ruined and need to be repainted. The first misshap I had the good `ole trusty diehard gold battery decide to swell and burst battery acid on my passenger side f.well. Then a friend helped me bleed my brakes and I neglected to check to see if he put the resivior cap back on properly, well he didn't and brake fluid took care of the drivers side f.well.

What I want to know is what brand rattle can paint is the best for fender well applications???

Sorry but NO rattle can will do what you want it to do. Most rattle can primers are based off lacquer or enamel, both are non catalized which do not hold up against solvents.

If you want them to hold up against solvents you will need to use automotive paint sprayed out of a gun. Since you dont want the rattle can paint to react with the new paint and just casue more problems remove it and start from fresh metal. Once in bare steel coat the metal with a self etching primer like PPG dx1791, dupont variprime or S-W EGB-973 or 980. Allow 30 mins flash time then spray on some epoxy primer. Epoxy has a nice dull to semigloss look and does a great job on resisting solvents. But for the highest protection using auto paints spray a SS urethane over the epoxy. This is the same technology used in final finishes by car manufactors.

You can leave them just in epoxy but spraying on a SS is just that extra protection...Eric
