My 72SS is primered for 2 or 3 years now. I wont be doing the body for a couple years yet and wonder if it is a good idea to strip now and what to cover it with to avoid rust. The car is stored in my workshop. Im concerned that the primer is porus and will make it rust. Thanks Jim Owens 72SS.

you will have to sand off the primer if you have any filler underneath. Dont use a chemical stipper unless you plan on grinding out all the filler and replacing it, because the chemical will get in the filler and haunt you later. I use PPG K200 primer surfacer, its a two stage with a catylist, it is super tough stuff. If you use it you should wetsand and block the car the next day, if you let it sit for days it is almost impossible to sand by hand. It really gets rock hard, and I would think it would stand up to years of sitting.
