: 69 Chevelle SS Fender emblems, where do they go????????
Driver #42 Jul 2nd, 03, 7:51 PM My dad recently purchased a 1969 Chevelle SS 396. They car is blue with a black vinyl top, Black bench seat, and an automatic on the colomn. The previous owner had new front fenders and quarters put on the car and lost most of the original trim. We purchased most of the trim and parts to finish it but have no holes in the fenders for such items as the "SS 396" emblems that go in front of the doors. Can anyone tell me where I can find spec measurements for mounting these items ?? I espesially need to know about the "SS396" fender emblems if anyone can measure them for me. Thanks in advance.

It's not easy as you may think to locate those emblems.
There is a page in the body manual with the measurements but it is hard to understand.
There was also a template someone on this site was sending to others e-mail.
Mabe if you did a search in last years tech forum you may find the post?
I can tell you each side is different.
Hope this helps?

Dean Jul 8th, 03, 11:29 PM I'll be glad to measure mine for ya but I won't guarantee that they are exactly correct cause I wasn't the one that drilled them

drptop70ss Jul 9th, 03, 7:09 PM I have my own set of templates off a junk pair of fenders, but I cant get pictures until the weekend. If needed I will put tape measures on the templates so you can see the measurements.
ehjorten Jul 11th, 03, 3:40 PM The information is within the assembly manual...you just have to know where to look and how it is decoded. I don't have my manual at work, but do at home. I can get you the information. What it shows is a measurement from some inspection datum. That comes from a couple of areas. for the fore-aft direction, zero comes from the front of the firewall. For the vertical direction, zero comes from a point on the fender (can't remember where now), but it is all in the book. I will look it up for you tonight.
xjunky928 Jul 11th, 03, 6:52 PM Hey Erik..Id appreciate any help I can get. I saw a page in the aasembly manual with measurments and that grid but you need to be a rocket scientist to figure it out.
Dean Jul 11th, 03, 10:33 PM here's mine, like I said I have no idea how "factory correct" they are
