For those of you who dont know, the lotto in califonia is up to 132 million. I want to know how many tickets i would have to buy in order to get every possible combination. i know its going to be millions of tickets and i would never be able to do it but does somebody know the formula. i was told there are 52 numbers(not sure if its correct), and a number can only be used once in the sequence. There are five numbers in the sequece also. ex 1,2,3,4,5-1,2,3,4,6 all the way to 1,2,3,4,52 and then the 4 changes to a 5 and so on. In order to win the jackpot you have to get the mega number(6th number) right also and it can be any number 1-52 and can be one that was already used.
its just been bugging me so if somebody can help my out i would appreciate it. thanks, Tim

It doesn't matter, depending on which person you talk to. More tickets do not increase the odds. If the odds are 1 in a million, buying two tickets only means you have 2 tickets with 1 in a million odds each. That's according to Marylin Voss Savant.
Personally, I don't know if I agree with her, because if there were a way to buy up every conceivable combination, would that leave you with a milion tickets, each with a 1 in a million chance to win, according to her.
Things like betting, chance, and odds making are always confusing.

Formula is:
52x51x50x49x48x52 = 16,217,510,400
You'll need to buy one ticket for each number combination, an impossible task.

The odds are 42 million to one. So if you bought even 10,000 tickets it wouldn't put a dent in the odds. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif
