Hey guys, My Super Sport came with a real nice MALIBU door. It has the little trim studs along the lower body line and one factory hole at each end. I want to sand and prime the door this weekend and was curious what the best method was to remove these studs and have the least amount of distortion as possible. Can I just put some all metal over the holes on each end and be ok?

Thanks,
Shay

definately weld up the holes at the door edge, using filler alone wouldn't be a good idea and will show up down the road. You can grind the studs down, just don't overheat them or you'll cause warpage. A cutoff wheel to zip them off then grind flush would probably work best. Bob

If you have a mig welder. get a peice of scrap copper 1/2 tubing and flaten one end wit ha hammer... you now have a weding backer for the hole, weld it shut.. not all at one time as not to warp the panel...

Trim studs... a wizzer ir 36 grit 6" or 4" grinder, will get rid of them REAL fast.

Whizzing them off will get rid of them but there will still be distortion, from the heat of the stud welder when they were welded on. You will still need a skim coat to get it straight. BTDT.
