: Sand paper for Blocking

Hello, I am finally at the blocking stage on my 70 chevelle. I have heard all different grits to use, 120-150-80........ What gives the best results, the body is really straight, spent about the last two years getting it that way,Great site, could not have put the new 1/4 on with out you guys.... thanks Steve

what type of paint will you be applying? what brand? In what stage is the body in now?

thanks for the help....car has been brought to bare metal, epoxy primed, metal welded in where needed, 1/4 replaced, sprayed 3 coats of 2-k filling primer.....now what sand paper to use to get it perrrrrrrrfect!!!!!! Car will be painted ppg base-clear. thanks again... Steve

All paint companys list what they want the final blocking to be.

Don.t go to fine the paint needs the FINE scratches to stick to somewhere between 400 and 600 should be fine.

If the body isn't that bad,i usually will block with 220 wet on a 9 inch block.Then go to 400. If its rough you might need to start with 80-120 grit,reprime then go 220 then 400.
