I know this is not a Camaro forum but I need some help. I bought a 69 Camaro. It is a solid car but a former owner painted the bumpers (front-red; rear-black.) How is the best way to remove this paint? Lacquer thinner? I don't know if the bumpers were sanded to make the paint stick but I will find out soon. The guy painted the windshield molding also! I am replacing that. Thanks.

Just let the chrome shop strip them when you take them in for new chrome. Most likely the chrome under the paint is shot. Why else waste time and effort to paint over it? There could also be filler under the paint, I've seen worse things done.

I believe you are right. I guess it is better to rechrome these rather than to buy replacements? They are not bent and are the originals. Thanks for the help.
The repops are only a $100 bucks (EA) and IMO are an acceptable replacement. Otherwise do as suggested and send them to the chrome shop and they can strip fairly easily. Just in case nobody told you, the connected camaro site ( www.camaros.net (http://www.camaros.net) ) has a bunch of good people that hang out there and can pretty much get you any Camaro related info. Good Luck
