Last week I went to start up the Chevelle and when I turned the key to the start position the cylinder/key would not spring back and there was no power. I did all sorts of research then dismantled the column as per a detailed procedure on a Corvette site. I found the sector gear lost a tooth. After I finally found one I reassembled the column and all went well. Now I turn the key and nothing. I believe the igntion switch is set correctly, turns back to the acc. position and povides power. The turn signals work and all else seems fine. So whats the deal? Bad ignition switch? I am out of ideas. I am obviously missing something but what?

might still be out of adjustment. move it just a bit to allow it to go all the way to the "start" position.
or you might have left the neutral safety switch disconnected or knocked that out ff adjustment when you were playing with the column.

Some how the actuator rod bent. I dropped the column pushed on the rod and turned the key, it fired. Can't believe that an 1/8" bend in the rod could cause that kind of trouble but thats all it took apparently.
