this really gets my goat!!! My filler panel just came in for the rust repair around the lower window channel. 2 problems right off the bat. #1. it doesnt have the pins to install the chrome molding clips for the trim and #2 it doesnt cover as much of the window channel as I had hoped for. the channel is also rusted in the corners of the window up about 2-3". does anyone know what I can do about the pins for the molding clips ? the car is my 69 h/t.
thanks

AS FAR AS THE PINS GO, someone sells screws that function as the pins, or you can get a pin welder. it has those pins and the gun welds them on. it also is used to weld other types of pins on so you can use a dent puller with out drilling holes. its a great tool. check into it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1873189972

The screw in type are made by a co. called Au-ve-co. Most body shop supply houses carry them. According to the package that mine came in, the part # is AUV-9877. Their website is www.auveco.com (http://www.auveco.com)

Ive bought several of those panels from goodmark and very happy with them. As for the locating pins, no panel will have those, not even a NOS part. The rotted out corners isnt the filler panel its the quarter rotted away. Most replace those pins with stainless srcews, or you can go to your local body shop. The shop should have what is called a stud gun. It welds nails to a dent and pulls them out, anyway the stud guns come with an attachment that welds on those locating pins...Eric

My glass installer had the gun and put them in for me. Might try one of those.

If you use screws be sure to put a little sealant or "dumb dumb" over the hole before you put install the clip and screw.

Oh yeah, MEASURE, MEASURE, MEASURE to be sure you put them in the right place. There is VERY little room for error!

When I did the panel under my rear window, I had to cut and fit additional metal for the corners.

I also tacked the panel in place and test fit the rear glass in. Had to adjust a few times before the glass would fit properly. Make sure you do this before you weld the entire panel in place. The glass guy asked me how long I'd been doing this (it was my first ever). He told me that mine fit the glass better than any he'd seen. Made me happy.

The glass guy supplied the pins and clips to replace the molding.
