What are they? I've read that Barry Grant rebuilt Holleys for years until he figured out their quirks, fixed them, and introduced his own version in the Demon line. I've also read that he's introduced quirks/problems of his own. What did he improve over the Holleys, and what are his short comings? I remember something about Demons not having a choke pull off. How does that affect performance and drivability? What else?
Thanks.

There are now many different version of the Demon carbs. The main advantage is the use of billet aluminum, which creates a smooth venturi for excellent air flow. Some people have been complaining about machining chips inside the float bowls & poor customer service. I tried a 650 Speed Demon, but could never get it to come off the line smoothly. Once out of the hole, though, it made power like no other carb I have owned (everything from Holley to Edelbrock {Carter} to Quadrajet). Their new Road Demon carbs have chokes on them. Another advantage to them is the large float bowls. If I could have gotten mine to come off the line smooth, I would still be running it. Hope this helps.

The choke horn was shortened for air cleaner clearance on the road demon, and now, the squirter sprays the pump shot against the choke plate instead of down the bores into the air stream.

My 750 mech. 2ndary Speed Demon gets at least 5mpg better mileage than any of the Holley 3310s(750 vac. 2ndary) that I've had on the same engines.Better e.t.s and 60's also-ONCE I finally tuned it in good.Hard to set up,for me-took forever to get the idle and tip in.

I replaced my leaky old Holley 800 DP with an annular booster Mighty Demon 800 DP,there was no debris in the carb( I checked),it was easy to tune, the only thing I did was go up 4 sizes in jets all around. It works really good,I'd never go back to a Holley again !
