Okay folks. This is going to sound like the most nitty gritty, meticulous crap you have ever heard but I'm funny like that on certain things.
This question pertains to a 1969 Chevelle SS.
I know what the correct fastener is for holding the hinge to the door. What is the correct fastener for hinge to body? Is it the same as hinge to the door? Also, can anyone tell me the proper torque specs for these fastners?
I have the assmebly instructions and service manuals for this car and I can find everything but door mounting instruction sheets. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill

A body service manual will show you the installation.
I have a 1964 may not be the same. The hinge to the door are tapered Phillips head screws. The door to the body are regular SAE threads with washers. I don't know the torque specs.
I'm sure someone else will have the specs.

Brob,
I have the body service manual and it's a little (or I should say alot) vague. It tells you how to disassemble the door, hinges, etc. and then it says for "installation reverse the procedure".
It doesn't give specifics on fasteners or torque. Just lots of pictures and sketches without calling out part numbers or torque.

Not too sure about the torque spec's.
I've got a question though; when the cars got painted at the factory, these fasteners got painted the body color as well, right? Does the same go with the fender fasteners that're in the door jamb? I don't see how they could paint the jamb with the fender on. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/confused.gif

Doors were painted on the car, frt. clip was seperate. Torque spec for the doors?? Never heard of that, tighten it with common sense. Your bolts should be the same on both sides on a 69.

I forgot to mention. As long as you have the hinges off your should buy a rebuild kit and install new bushing and pins. You may have done this Just my 02.
