What exactly is a body off restoration? Do you remove the body as one unit off the frame? or is each section seperate. I am putting the Velle in storage for the winter, the NY salt would add 10 years worth of ageing in a day,can I just remove the front parts? the rear parts?
Thanks for your response in advance.
Goal is to have the frame, motor area clean and painted (POR15) before next summer (2001)

Body off means just that .You take the entire body off the frame. The front "clip"
fenders and core support will have to come off seperately eithr all together or apart(preferred) then the rear section with doors attached can be removed all together. If its a convertable its best to remove the doors and weld in braces to support the shell

Lou, I can't believe it is winter in New York already. The POR 15 should protect your frame well. Before you store it away I would wash as much of the underside to get rid of as much of the salt from previous years as you can.
Phil, It was 100 here today in the mountains, you must have been frying down there in Mesa.

It was at least 120 on the ramp we were standing behind the jets exhaust to cool off http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif
Be careful while you BBQ everythings dry this year, Maybe thats why its called a desert

I have never restored a car before and I am doing a frame off! So far it is not overwhelming and quite frankly it is very relaxing. I must admit it is a lot easire with all the help you get from the gearheads in here!
I plan to slide the frame back under the car within the next week or two.... just trying to determine where to run the new fuel line before I do the slide back under. I am using 1/2 inch line and even went out and got the tools to do the double flare on the brake and fuel lines myself!
Heck, next year I will be able to give advice on most things needed to do a restoration.
