I have been exploring option for my 8.2" rear end for a while. One option I havent come upon until recently was a Powertrax unit. The rear end is a 2.73 gear (open of course) and bone stock. Will adding a powertrax to this be of any advantage? How will my stock internals/axles fair with this setup? The car is not raced just street driven, just looking for a lower cost way to get some extra grip and a second black strip! Thanks.

I have been running one in my 12 bolt for 6 years now including drag racing it as well.No issues on the street or the track.
Lots of info if you do a search as well in this forum.

I did do a search before I posted, I couldnt really find any solid info on using the stock axles, anything to worry about there?

The Power Trax will work with stock axles, as long as they are not '64 axles. I don't recommend the No-Slip, but the Lock Right will work fine. You can also use an E-Z Locker. It is the same thing.

Thanks guys, this definitely looks like a viable option, I think I'll look into some pricing real soon!

I have had one for a year now, takes a beating and works great. I don't have 600 horsepower like some of these guys, only half that.

That would be great thanks! Do powertrax units fit inside both the 2 series and 3 series carriers?
