Does anyone know what the ratio of a manual steering box is. I can't find any info on this. The years I'm looking for especially are '66/'67. Thanks.

Early Chevelles used 28.0:1 with the manual boxes. Verified by the '67 brochures.

Thanks Cam. I could only find the ratio on power assist boxes, not the manual ones.

The Chevelle steering gear ratio is 24:1. By the time that you get through the tie rod and steer arms the overall vehicle ratio is 28:1. (i.e. The steering wheel turns 28 degrees for every 1 degree that the road wheel turns.)

Thanks Jim. Jim works (worked?) for Saginaw Gear Division where they make the steering boxes. His word is Gospel
