Thanks for all the kind words guys. The primer is a 2k urethane primer surfacer from Sherwin Williams over DPLF epoxy primer on bare metal. Then the BC/CC is 100% OMNI AU by PPG.
The silver covered well in 3 coats and the clear covered very well in 3 coats also.
Eric, I would enjoy coming up there and getting some lessons from a pro, but I think the gas to get there would cost too much :D
The hood was in great shape to begin with. I stripped it with Kleen strip from Home Depot. Then washed it and then went over every bit with a black Scotchbrite abrasive wheel in my die grinder. At this point I only had about 4 hours in it. Don't fprget to wipe it down with wax and grease remover. I sealed the clean scuffed surface with DPLF epoxy primer followed by 3 coats of the Sherwin Williams urethane primer. Wet Sanded with 180 and then 240, wiped down with a tack cloth, sprayed the silver (3 coats) then later same day clear (3 coats). It's hard work, but the reward is awesome graemlins/thumbsup.gif I should have my whole car looking like that for well under $1000 total. No, it won't be perfect, but at least I can say that I did it myself. Product pic's to follow....

Haven't we discussed mixing products before??
It looks great....but who do you call if you have a problem??
I would try to stick with the same brand from start to finish...JMO.

I would try to stick with the same brand from start to finish...JMO. That's a great point, but I had already purchased the gallon of Sherwin-Williams Primer, when I decided to go with the PPG line. I asked both vendors and the pros on this site and felt very comfortable that in this particular situation, it would be compatible. I have a few panels with these products mixed, urethane surfacer over epoxy and have seen no ill effects so far.
