Has anyone used the lower door patches before? I just ordered the ones from OPG. It was either patch, find good doors (yeah right) or try the new door shells from Goodmark. I have new quarters and front fenders so I am trying to keep the factory doors (in place) for line up purposes. Any help or hints would be great.

I haven't used the OPG door bottoms but I've installed plenty of others including alot of my own. What is your install plan? flange and lap? butt weld? adhesive? This can be a great repair if done correctly. When you get the panels in try slipping them directly over the existing skin, if they fit like most do they will be too long when you trim the existing metal away--you will have to modify/shorten one end in order to get it to line up with the remainder of the original panel. Make sure to clean all the corrosion off the door frame and prime it good before installing the new piece.

Thanks for the help. I will be using a butt weld and will definitely size up first. Due to the body line at bottom of the door I am only going to cut what is rusted, not the entire bottom of the door.

good idea-only use what you need and you'll save work and end up with a better repair IMO. A perfect but weld is the best way-no air gaps easy to apply corrosion protection to the inside, I usually seam seal from the inside also tooling with my finger and opening up the drains of course. I also prime the patch backside before installation. This will last forever if done correctly IMO graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Just got the patch panels in and was hoping to weld this weekend but....... the panels are stamped completely backwards! The left is actually the right and vise versa. could work but I would have to bend the flange all the way back around 225 degrees to make work and that will mess up the edge line, distort and weaken the metal. Called OPG and they are trying to figure this one out and call me back. They are going to try a patch panel on a door skin I guess. Other than that they are great looking stamps!!
I was already told I was using the wrong side, had them backwards, upside down etc. I don't. There is only one way these can go on due to the shape of the door, body line, and difference between front and rear of door. Ray Charles could see they are not correct, I just hope they have a few of the older shipment still laying around or I know I will be on the dreaded back-order list!
