I"m spreading my wings beyond the SouthEast regional and that "Chevelle-abration thing" and making my way up to Buffalo for the July Can-Am show. I thought this was an ACES thing, is it not? No bother, I'm coming up to hang out with all my yankee buddies.

I booked the listed hotel for the 6th/7th/8th, but the lady said the cost was $110 a night and not the $99 listed on the website. Somebody might need to make some phone calls, or change the website. Maybe the cheaper ones are gone and my "scenic balcony" costs the extra $10.

Who all will be there??

I'll be there Mike, not sure which car I'm bringing yet though. I'm thinking of bringing a "special" 69 just for Don. You'll have a great time there. I always do!!

Well Mike, I am obviously a regular at The Falls. However, now that I know you are coming, I may come down with some weird disease or something   :D

With regard to the Hotel, all the rooms have balconies, some facing the river and some inland. It could very well be the style you wanted (two doubles or king or ....) are all booked, while other styles are available at the $99 rate.

Looking forward to seeing you again pal after about six years. Here's the deal - I'll bring the Canadian Brew and you bring the sausage

Bill informed me I booked the wrong days, so I called to change over to the 5th/6th/7th. Well, the lady said there are no "discounted rate" rooms for the night of the 5th!

However, I did get the 6th and 7th changed over to the $99 rate. I don't know why the other lady couldn't do that before!!

Don, what should I do? They want $170 for the night of the 5th because all of the "CA3" block of rooms are booked for that night. So are people only staying there on the 5th and not the 6th 7th? I mean, how can I can those nights, but not the 5th.

I did not book the 5th. So hopefully something will work out.

Glad to hear you got Friday and Saturday nights worked out Mike.

Since we normally only have about 20 or so rooms booked for the Thursday night, I imagine they set aside just a certain number for that night at our group rate. I believe we have 100 rooms for the Friday and Saturday, at least up to their cutoff date as shown on our website. I know mine for the 5th is booked at $99.

If you could email me your last name Mike and your reservation confirmation number I'll see what I can do. Keep your fingers crossed.

That seems kind of odd doesn't it Don? Each of the 4 years I have come up there, I booked the room late and still got "the rate" for Thursday night thru Saturday night. Let me know what you find out as I have yet to book my room up there also.

Ditto here...not made any reservations yet.
The problem may be the 4th of July falls on that Wednesday and that hotel is a popular location to view the fireworks launched from the river. And July/August are busy months for tourist visits in the Falls area.
FYI...if a Thursday night stay becomes difficult here there are other hotels close by but across the river off of I-290.

Good man Don! I called and they already had me set up for the 5th @ $99.

so, I'm set for now. Even if Bill procrastinates and doesn't get his room, I can always hitch a ride with one of the many beautiful chevelles staying at the Holliday Inn.

It is always best to stay at the host hotel for this type of event. But for those who need to save some cash or get blocked out, there are lots of motels that are close to Grand Island. Here are the #’s of a few motels that are close to Grand Island:
Grand Suites Motel (on Grand Island) $79.00 per night (called today and got that price). 1725 Grand Island Blvd. (716) 773-2575
Boulevard Inn & Suites (off the Island) 1951 Niagara Falls Blvd {NFB} ($56.00 includes tax) (716) 691-9392
Budget Inn (off the island) 1970 NFB (716) 692-7260 ($55.00+ tax)
Red Carpet Inn (off the island) 1900 NFB (716) 692-1422 ($109.00 + tax)
Econo Lodge (off the island) 2000 NFB (716) 694-6696 ($89.00 + tax)
And a link to GI CC where you'll find some other motels on the island:

The name “Grand Island” is a bit misleading, being that it’s about five miles long.

If anyone needs help with an alternative motel , PM me with your needs, and I’ll point you in the right direction. I’m local, (10 min from Grand Island) and will be attending the show with my 67 SS vert.

Don't forget the Microtel off Delaware Ave in Tonawanda next to I-290.

That task was completed today...July 5th thru 8th.
Also mailed in the show registration for "White Lightning".
