May be a stupid question with a simple solution but one I don't know the answer to. My son and I removed the vinyl top. We cut it off at the molding edges. Got the rain gutter moldings off but how do you remove the window moldings and body moldings(1/4 and across back between glass and trunk) that the vinyl top goes under with out damaging the moldings or the body? Is there a special tool I ca purchase at an auto parts store? Thanks Pete

On my Nova they just "slide" off. There are clips every 8" or so that hold them on.

theres a tool that you use to get these off. you get under the chrome strip and slide to u hit a clip then you turn and pop the chrome strip off the clip. its pretty easy. once ya get going you get someone to hold the strip up as you pop each clip. the tool looks like a pick ax kinda has to hooks on each side, thin with a handle. probally could find at an automotive store, or a snap on tool truck for sure.........

The moulding DIRECTLY under the 1/4 glass is bolted on. The moulding on the sail panel(upper part of quarter) is held in place with clips.
The corner pieces I believe are also bolted on.
The moulding by the backglass is held in with clips.

There are many tools that remove those clips.
They can be bought off a tool truck or your Napa store might carry them or even a resto house like Year One.

This pic is from the MAC tools catalog
Slide tool under the moulding, you will feel it catch the clip then give it a twist of wraist to "pop" it out.
