Planning the project, my 68SS was originally Butternut Yellow. My kids say I should not paint her yellow, but I say original is best. Any opinions/suggestions. Go to the original color or a more updated color.

I like the original, esp. butternut yellow. Let me guess............they want it red or blue!

My car is a '67 - original color Marina Blue. It's getting jammed and shot next week Marina Blue. My project has taken a while to get to the paint stage, and everyone had an opinion about the color. I went from Marina Blue, to Black, to Silver, back to Marina Blue. AS for the Butternut Yellow - I love it on the '67 and it does look really sharp on all years. Whatever you decide good luck and post pictures.

My thoughts...

If you are trying to keep it as original as possible, stay yellow. I think that will help resale value if the car is otherwise stock or really close to it.

I would think that it's cheaper to stay the same color, unless the car is totally apart. So if that's an issue, stay yellow.

If you really don't like yellow, and don't care about the issues above, paint it any color you like.

My kids don't get a vote on my car, since they are too young to help work on it :D

If you are interested in originality paint it Butternut. My car was originally that color but it just didn't do it for me. I have decided on Sunset Orange Metallic for the 'ol girl. Butternut yellow just does not scream HOT ROD! In my humble opinion of course.

If you plan to keep the car, then I would paint it whatever makes you happy. If you plan to sell it, I would go original.

$.02 Any colors that originally were available on the car would look the best. Some of the non-original colors look somewhat odd to me. I would say keep it the original color.

My 66SS was originally Butternut Yellow, I decided to paint it Saturn Yellow.

Saturn Yellow was used on the 1970 Buick GSX, it's a very bright "screaming" yellow, as opposed to the very light pale Butternut Yellow.

I just did not like the Butternut Yellow.
