Sorry CAMBO, I have only seen the car one time and I did not get a chance to meet the owner. They dropped the car off at a Car Quest give away show...where they giveaway a Long Block 350, air compressor, and some other stuff. The car must not see to much daylight, I believe it is stored within a few miles of where I live and the Car Quest store that had the show. I do not know where the owner lives YET. I will keep my eyes open for it this summer. DAN

Plum Mist IS Royal Plum. It is a very deep dark purple with a light metallic. The closest common item in color found in your grocery store is an eggplant (yes, eggplant like in the produce aisle). I think it looks more like eggplant purple than plum purple - but I suppose that Eggplant Mist just wouldn't have the same cache.

I owned (since sold to a fellow Team Cheveller, Tuned By Tad)a '67 ElCamino that was originally Plum Mist. It was a red when I sold it, but Tad and Crystal plan on respraying it Plum Mist.

Actually, I think Plum Mist is more of a Lavender color and Royal Plum is more Burgundy. There might be a pic on RichL79's website.

I always thought that Royal Plum vs. Plum Mist was just marketing, the same way that Ermine White became Provincial White in Canada (the same colour). My '66 Canadian brochure lists Royal Plum (bet you thought it was a '67-only colour).
Here's a link to the brochure pic of a Malibu convertible: Plum Mist (http://www.chevelles.com/years/67/67cars.htm)

Yup, just marketing between Plum Mist and Royal Plum. There are many colors that GM has given multiple names to - but if the paint codes and formulas come back the same...then they are the same.

My '67 GTO is Plum Mist, Pontiac's name for what is Chevy's Royal Plum. There is a 1991 Ford color, code ER 6445 Dark Cranberry, that is so close to the GM Plums that I have used it as touchup paint on my car and it is available as 2 stage base coat/clear coat paint.

I must be truly gaffed, but every time I go for groceries and see a purple plum I think of '67 Chevies. They were only offered with black interiors with that colour unless white or a facesmile was available. Yes, Pontiac offered it as well, but not Olds or Buick.
