I'm learning a hard lesson. I'm stuck converting a '72 Monte Carlo dash harness with warning lights to a '70 Chevelle dash harness with gauges. (I'm converting from sweep to gauge dash) I followed Elree's excellent directions for bulkhead and cluster changes, but still have questions. The Monte harness is for a/c, which my Chevelle doesn't have. Here are the questions:
1. Do I need to transfer the heater resister set of three wires (18Y, 18LBL/18OR) from Chevelle and combine them with the 14BRN and 14OR wires on the Monte harness for my heater controls? That would make it match the 70 schematic.
2. Chevelle has 3 wire fuel connector, none on Monte harness? Do I need to add something?
3. At the end of the Monte harness, near glove box connnector, is a 3 wire (Lt. blue/tan/black) connnector -- is this for speakers?
4. Will a/c wires interefere with my non a/c car?
5. On the Monte column branch of connectors there is a 2 wire (pink/pink white) connector and a 2 wire (pink/lt. green) connector -- what are these -- not on Chevelle?
6. Do I need to add my 14OR wire (blower from AZ slot) from the Chevelle harness to the Monte harness which doesn't have it because it has a/c?
7. The Monte harness had 2 wires (tan and yellow) in AX slot of bulkhead. Chevelle schematic shows these radio wires not running throught bulkhead. Should I just pull out of Monte bulkhead and tape?
8. After making the changes in the Monte bulkhead I was left with a black wire from AW and a lt. blue from DZ -- are these speaker wires? Can I just eliminate them.
9. Lighter connector is different on Monte, should I just get a '72 lighter to match the connector?
Thanks huge amounts in advance. I'm trying to save the $400 on a new harness. I burned myself by buying this on ebay, but with your help, I think I can do this.

1- & 6-Yes you can remove the orange wire from the bulkhead along with the speed resistor wiring and blower switch connector, install them on your replacement harness. Release the brown wire from the blower switch connector, install the brown A/C power feed from the replacement harness.

2- No the fuel gauge wires are in the 12 pin cluster connector.

3- They are for a TCS relay, not used on the 70.

4- No. The brown A/C power feed wire is used in 1-. If you have the A/C harness just disconnect it, nothing is needed,

5- Pink Pink-white are for the seatbelt warning circuit, not used in 70. The pink ltgreen are for the backup light, connect to the column or floor shift mounted switch.

7-Just leave it in place, if you want or need to connect the TCS that will supply power to it.

8- the two wire are part of the 72 TCS, see 3-, not needed on 70.

9- Yes you will need a lighter assembly from a 71+ GM, should be easy to find.
