: fiberglass or steel fenders

i have to purchase fenders and a hood for my 68 chevelle. i was told to go with fiberglass- its cheaper and lasts longer. need opinions. :confused:
the car will be a daily driver

It's true the fiberglass fenders will last forever, unless it's wrecked. But cheaper, not if you count the labor to make them fit correctly. It could easily cost 500.00 per side to "adjust" the fender gaps and contours. Glass parts are built for strip cars where weight is crucial and fit/finish is secondary.

I have heard if you drive on gravel you can get little stars in you paint if you have fiberglass fenders. I would deffinatly go with the Fiberglass hood as it is a 50-60 LBS weight savings(as I am a horspower freak) and doesn't get pelted with gravel as you drive down the road as the fenders do on the inside :D

Don't forget lighter hood springs and hood pins if you do though!
