i've been offered an SS hood (which i lack) it has the SS cowl but no flapper, also has cowl induction chrome moldings. So is it a fraud or just a non functional cowl hood? 1971 ss. How much worth?

They made two different hoods that were offered on the SS cars. The first hood is commonly named the SS domed hood. It has the raised section in the middle of hood. The other hood had the same raised area but had the flapper at the end. This hood is called the cowl induction hood.

you have been offered the non cowl induction hood or domed hood. Is it original or reproduction? What is the condition? The domed hood was available for even the malibu possibly and it was on the 71 / 72 heavy chevy which was a poor man's ss. Poor man's because the insurance rates for real super sports at that time became ever harder to afford on what minimum wage of $2.25 an hour.

The "Cowl Induction" emblems are not truly correct for a non-functional SS Domed hood. Someone probably just thought they looked good and put them on even though it's not technically a cowl induction hood.
