I have recently completed a 1969 SS 396, I replaced all harnesses and cannot get my horn to work. The car has an alternator, no voltage reg, no horn relay, and a HEI with MSD 6AL. At the end of the harness by the Horn, there are 2 wires; 1 Black and 1 Pink with black stripe. Any help would be greatly appreaciated.
Thanks,
Rick

Rick, check the horn button assembly is making contact with ground. I had a issue like this and dicovered that some paint was keeping the buttons from grounding. Alan

Maybe you need that horn relay?

Hi Rick
I have a 70 SS with no horn relay or voltage regulator. I went and bought both of them. The Horn Relay was $32.00, the voltage regualtor was about $25.00.
The small black wire I believe is the wire back to the horn contacts in the steering wheel. The pink wire with the black stripe is for the key buzzer.
See the attached link. I have found it very helpful.
Good Luck
Bob

Rick,
Perhaps some of my pictures could help out. I just recently took my front end apart and I snapped some shots along the way.
