hi everyone, yes i am a proud owner of a 71 4 door malibu, i was just woundering if anyone here or has seen a a custom chevelle that has had the rear doors turned into suicide doors, personaly i think that would be very cool, but also on the very pricy side i bet, just a thought....

I feel like I am in the Twilight Zone, wasn't this asked about three months ago?
Forget about it, was the consistence.

Consistence????
Might you mean consensus?
Making the rear doors into suicide doors is possible, but unless you have deep pockets or or able to do the work youself, it might not be worth it.

I have spent more hours than want to admit getting stock unmodified parts to fit the way I want. CAN'T IMAGINE embarking on a project like that!

i think if you took the time to do turn the rear doors into suicide doors then i think you would committ suicide

Believe me, going on my 3rd 4dr, I've thought of the possibility many times. The logistics just aren't there for our 71-72 chevelles. The door pattern would have to be different...However, I did hear a nice idea of just moving the rear handle and making it look like suicide doors.
It's nice to dream though http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Yeah, that was me who suggested the reversed door handles the last time this came up. I agree that actually getting them to open backwards is going to be a whole lot of work, but if you just have to have that look, just put the door handles on the front edge of the rear door - swap sides so the rear door handles are facing opposite the fronts. You won't really be able to open the door with these handles (since they're at the wrong end of the door), but then again, you can't really open the door with shaved handles either, and THAT'S done for looks, also. Just do the same thing that the shaved handle guys do to open their doors. Spring load it or something. I was considering doing it to my '72 4 door, but even the door handle switch/move is too much work for me right now. Good luck! If you do manage to switch either the hinges or the handles or both, post pictures!
