have blown 3 shocks on the CHevelle. After pulling the motor it seems the fram may be bent. I measured 8.5 from the inside tire edge of the right tire to the outside of the frame. On the left I measured 7.25 inches. Measured area on frame was near large hole in the frame near steering gear box. Also measured 28.5 inches between the frame at these same two points. Sound bent to anyone?

Something you might want to check is the shock application. Some cheapo shocks advertise one part number for 64-72 A-bodies, but usually they're the correct length for the '68-72 cars. Which is a shorter shock than what's intended for your car. So the shock becomes the upward-motion "bump stop" for your front suspension, not hard to imagine destroying them if this is the case.
Sorry, can't help you on frame measurements.

Sounds like it might indeed be bent.Mine measures exactly 27" between the frame rails
on the straight part of the frame.Hope this helps. Are you going to look for another frame?

Looks a little dimpled on the right rail Will call the alignment shop guru in town about straightening the frame while the front clip is off. Otherwise I may be looking for a new frame. Wonder if the El Camino frame will swap.

hope your able to get the frame pulled straight.
as for compatable frames. the 67 according to holender exchange is ALL by it's self.
an 67 elky frame need to be shortened and is boxed as is the Conv frame.
The front to back fuel and break lines are bent different and uses a different trans cross member.

The 67 El Camino frame should fit, except for behind the rear wheels...

As stated before, you will need the correct trans cross-member (El Cam/Covert), brake and fuel lines...

Off to the frame shop. Less then $300 and I don't have to pull the body off or search for a frame. Thanks for the input.-
