The driprail mouldings will be the same for 70,71,and 72 Chevelles vinyl top or not. ElCamino's are definately different. Repro vinyl top mouldings are now available and the ones I bought look real nice, haven't installed them yet.

I bought mine off of ebay, but I think Greenwood was the company who sold them originally. The drip rail mouldings are all the same on these cars-vinyl top or not. Your shop couldn't get the drip rail mouldings on? or the vinyl top mouldings?

what i have had to do on vinyle top's is not over lap the top over the drip rails because then the molding wont fit-i have cut the top down in the valley of the rail, then skim with silicon to hide the edge-the newer tops are thicker than the older ones, but seems a car that was fact. equip'ed with vinyle top did have a little wider drip rail molding

i think skimming the edge of the vinyle with silicon looks crappy did this to a car at work it looks crappy plus i dont think it will last .i would try to get the moldings to fit first.

I have done my vinal top cars the same, way,,, you will not find a molding to fit over the lip,,, without beating it into submission,,, here is the reasons,,, the original vinal tops had NO padding on the edges so it over lapped nicely and the molding would sqeeze over it,, all the new repro tops are padded edge to edge,,, I run my tops into the valley and end them just a hair from where the molding lips onto the rail,,and run a bead of Black silicone to seal it,,, noone ever see's it unless they are standing on there heads smile.gif
