Yes, there was a limited run of 65's with a 396, they had an RPO of Z-16, there were many other special components on the car also. Please provide the VIN and Cowl tag info and numbers on the block in the Tag Team forum if you don't mind. Thanks in advance. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

progress has little to do with speed, but lots to do with direction.

They made only 201 of the Z-16 cars.
200 - coupes
1 - convertible (supposedly)

From what I read they all came with convertible frames for added strenght. If it is a true Z-16 you did just hit pay dirt.

I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT BELIEVE YOU HAVE BOUGHT A REAL 65 396 CAR THAT EASILY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But if you did, then as mentioned, you REALLY did hit the jackpot. I presume that you don't know just how rare and desireable a 65 SS396 car is (the code was Z-16, and that is how they are known). If it is a really nice "built" car, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that (I'd be suspicious), BUT, if it is the real deal, then congradulations!
