This may be a stupid question but here goes. Is the oil capacity of a 454 with stock pan 5 or 6 quarts?

71-454, I don't know that the dipstick and tube are correct for this engine. The tab at the upper end of the tube isn't attached to anything. I might have bolted up to a stock manifold but since the car has headers it is kinda hanging there. I will put the 5.5-5.75 quarts in it and see where it registers on the stick.

SS468,just make sure you either fill the new filter with oil before installing it or run the motor to fill the new oil filter before you check the lvl on the dipstick or it may be wrong at wrong lvl.
