I have to have a functional cowl induction hood. My 70 SS came from the factory with one the build sheet proves it http://members.cox.net/darrens70ss/images/Build%20Sheet.JPG .
I know what some of you are thinking…. it was already gone when I bought it.

As most of you already know the -ZL2 Spc Duct hood(s)- are pretty much no where to be found and if you are fortunate enough to find one it will run you about 1500.00 + shipping which hardly anyone is one is willing to do….

I have the cowl hump without the flapper on my car now. On e-bay and other places I’ve searched it seams there are about 1.5 million parts to make the thing work. My question is has anyone been bold enough (or stupid enough) to try and cut the hole and make one?
If so, how many of the 1.5 million parts do you really need?

Some day I’ll have the 1500.00 for one assuming there are any left out there. But for now I really don’t care about the hood that’s on it and I’m thinking about taking the chance.

I wouldn't cut up a domed SS hood
Why not buy a Goodmark repro functional hood?
All you need to make it work (IMHO) is the flapper door (and the brackets) plus the vacuum pod..I never bother with the innner door or any of that.Plus, you gotta get the air cleaner graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I'm with Mr 4 Speed on this one. Goodmark hoods are priced very reasonably.

I like the Goodmark idea and I’m going to check into that today. Are there any of you running one of these hoods? Are they going to buckle all the seams the first time I shut it? (I know hinges are a big factor here) I forgot to mention, the car retains all the factory relays, switches and wiring for the ZL2 Spc Duct hood……
