I don't know if this is normal but there is a condenser strapped to the outside of the coil. I was trying to put in a new oil pressure sending unit when the wire broke off the condenser. Is there normally a condenser in this location? I'm assuming the end of the wire goes to the + or - side of the coil. Which side does the wire go to? Thanks in advance for any help.

Goes to the + side. This is a noise filter and you can leave it out if the radio doesn't have any static in it. The - terminal has some serious voltage on it.
