I just got a new Eaton posi unit for my 8.2 and am wondering who makes quality installation kits and Carrier bearings?.

I think one of the concerns is the quality of the bearing. China crap will be be bad. You want good old fashioned made in USA bearings. Like a quality Timken bearing. Contact Freddie Byars on this site. He goes by the username "big gear head". He can hook you up with an install kit.

just by one from randy's ring and pinion. they are located in wash state. their kits have timkens and also the super shims. tom

and thats what Im looking for, Kits with Timken bearings. I have not found any searching the usual mail order catalogs.

If Randy's is that close then go see them. Be sure that they give you a kit with the super shims and not the econo shims.

Whats the difference between the two shims?
My knowledge and experience in this department is limited so any advice, pointers, or suggestions are welcome.

The super shims are much easier to use, more user friendly. The econo shims can be a pain sometimes, and there isn't always the right combination of shims to get the thickness that you need.
