I just pulled my windshields and have some pretty rusty window channels (no holes yet) I'm thinking POR-15, but can't find it locally. I looked at some sites, basically same prices, and am looking for suggestions.
Do I really need to buy:
1. Marine Clean,
2. Metal Ready
3. POR-15
4. Tie-Coat Primer ?
I'll also use it on my inner fenders - can I use semi-gloss and not worry about painting over it?

You can buy POR15 on line at www.por15.com (http://www.por15.com) You can find anything you want about POR15 on the site. I been useing it and has made a beliver out of me so far. I'm about ready to do my frame with it in the next few weeks.

No, you don't need all that to protect the window channels. Here's the straight scoop direct from the POR-15 web site:

POR-15® is a paint-like substance which acts as a total rust inhibitor and is also very effective as a metal filler. It's consistency is approximately that of paint and it has very good spreadability (one quart covers 96 square feet ).

POR-15® chemically bonds to rusted steel to form a rock-hard, non-porous coating that won't crack, chip, or peel. It works by isolating metal from moisture. Without moisture present, steel can't rust.

Thin, covering coats are best; POR-15® will accept all paints, including lacquer-based paints.

POR-15® works great as a concrete sealer and is impervious to fuels, battery acid, oils, etc.
