For some reason I'm not able to pull up the post on the trunk lid adjustment, it just hangs... Would you mind reposting your reply?

They bent the hinges or lid to make it fit.

If you use the small shims, or even after shimming, remove the shim and exchange it with a washer of the same thickness.

By the way, if you open the lid and then force it to go open as far as it will with a little pressure, you will bend the hinge and or lid to bring it down in the back.
It is high at the hinge side right?
