I've been getting some e-mail from lots of first timers who purchased the CB-DVD. They are looking forward to attending CB07. They are also looking for info on the event. I'm starting this thread in hopes that we can help out the newbies and when someone asks a CB question we can just point them here.
and as is tradition... Let the countdown begin!!!!
First step for the first timers is, make your reservations NOW. The area motels will sell out. If for some reason you can't get a room, post a room wanted here and keep your eyes on the TC Cruise In board as there are usually cancellations as the days get closer to the event. Good Chevell~abrators never just cancel, they offer the reservations to people who might need them first.

onabudget Feb 12th, 07, 9:34 PM Can anyone suggest a good motel close to the event? Maybe one where there is alot of action (parkinglot BBQ's, parties, etc)?
Use the map below for Motel location info, the red area indicates "Ground Zero". That is the spot between the Best Western and Hampton Inn where the night-time activity is.
That will also be the location of the majority of "Team Chevellers", DZ Auto Roadside Grill, and the Heart of Dixie Cookout. (Hopefully these cookout will happen again this year). Either way you want to be near the RED Zone.
There may also be a motel or two north of the main road above the Best Western on the map. I"m not sure on that. Check the Holoday Inn and Red Roof as they are usually the last to fill up.

I'll be leaving NY Saturday Morning. I'm going to stop and visit family in S/W Virginia (Radford) until Monday Morning. Should pull into the Best Western Monday at about 4pm.
I'm getting excited, better get an engine in the Chevelle soon:o

Best Western is considered ground zero, this is where the cajun cooking happens and Tom Parsons grills and people in general just stay out all night get fit shaced and tell stories.
Check this thread for a overhead picture of the hotels so you can get a good idea of the location of each to the others:

BlueSS454 Feb 13th, 07, 7:49 PM I already made my reservations. I'll be trailing the 70 more than likely, although I was debating on driving the 69 down instead. I'm trying to find someone to make the 13 hour trip with me. I've done it alone in the truck twice and it sucks driving that far by yourself.

If you can get a room grab it, the parking lots are adjoining so you will still be very close to all the action.

I was there during the huricane rains of '05 when you Jersey boys unloaded those cars from your buddies rig. I sure don't remember seeing that much blue sky. That was really cool. I always think it about when I pass one of those Reliable trucks on the road. Do you guys ride along in the cab too? LOL
For what it's worth to those who haven't made reservations yet. When I made reservations back in Oct. I couldn't find any availability anywhere. I ended up somewhere down the road.

It was a beautiful day when we unloaded. It was cloudy/rainy when we loaded to come home. Hopefully we will have 5 days of sunshine and 72 degrees this year. Us northerners aren't use to that southern heat and humidity.
Hey Bill, Can I reserve a spot in that rig for 2008?
Sure Mark, we need a 66, we have just about other year covered. Actually it's a truck full. He can haul 6 cars depending on the size of the cars, but you don't know how much of a load 5 Chevelles can be till you stick them all into one truck. The ones on top are only inches from the ceiling.

Bill Rose Feb 16th, 07, 10:21 PM The Red Roof Inn is a decent place. None of the hotels are within walking distance to the park, unless you don't mind walking a mile or two :D

I have stayed there for the last 2 years and have already made my reservations there this year. It's a decent place, cheap enough, and within walking distance to Ground Zero, aka the Best Western where all the night action is. None of the hotels are within walking distance of Moss-Wright Park where the event is held, it's about 2 miles away.

There are usually 400-500 Chevelles registered. I believe last year was 480. As for as 'for sale' that can be hit or miss depending on what your looking for. I'm sure there will be quite a few Chevelles for sale in the motel parking lots and a few on the show field (although I think thats a no-no).
With that many Chevelles you can expect a lot more people (my one Chevelle is 2 Adults and 4 kids). If you do make the trip don't forget to stop on by the Best Western parking lot and introduce yourself.
And just to keep track

They won't hit 800, more in the 4-600 number. Just make sure you get joined to ACES and your application in before the deadline. I think it is around the 1st of May, but I could be off. Call Chuck on the ACES hotline and he will be glad to fill you in. And yes, you can leave your rig at the grounds. It locks up around 8 at night and you can't get back in there till morning, so make sure you take whatever you will need with you when you leave it. Just remember to relax and have a great time.:beers:

Don't worry about it, Dan. No one knows what you look like, so you're safe. Anyway, all we talk about in the parking lot is cars, so if you stick to that you're  :D Just stay away from Rob and his dang video camera--he'll catch you in a weak moment & you'll say things you should have stayed quiet about!!:o

randolph Feb 25th, 07, 11:02 PM My wife and I are going to our first Chevella-bration.
Will there be vendors for or a place to buy new and/or used parts. I am looking for a good console for a 64 Chevelle and thought this might be a good place to find one.
quikss Feb 26th, 07, 12:08 AM Their are some vendors and others selling parts, not a huge swap meet but some. You could also see if Hinshaws or possibly Ground Up plan on being there and ask them to bring what you are looking for.

I'll be coming from Missouri along with 6 or 7 other Chevelles. Everybody is driving theirs but, I may have to trailer mine b/c I won't be able to get any road time in with it to make sure it's ready as it will just be getting finished.
One of the guys said something about following the power tour?? Is it going through Nashville like Weds or does anybody know?
Detroit Al Feb 27th, 07, 7:45 PM I just booked a room at Red Roof Inn today (Tuesday) with no problem. Guess I'm like a lot of other guys, a ton of work planned and only 100 days to get 'er done. Waiting for the weather to break a little bit up here in Michigan. Note to self: next house will have insulated AND heated garage! Or just hit the lotto and write checks like to rich guys. HA! That's no fun! Look for the French Vanilla '65 post car with the blower, will be glad to gear-talk to all.

Detroit Al Feb 27th, 07, 10:04 PM You could skulk your Black Betty in late at night. Then just keep it covered all weekend saying something like "the new paint job is sun or UV sensitive" and I can only bring it out on sunny or cloudy days, opposite what the actual weather really is. Since I'm new to this group, I'm not sure if they accept Chevelle want-a bees. Does sound like a fun group, especially after watching the Long Island Chevelles DVD. Nice job on that DVD!!

ssgwilkerson Mar 4th, 07, 10:52 AM For those w/RV's, there is a RV Park/campground up on the ridge. I think it's 5 miles or so north on 65... exit 104 I think. If anyone i interested, just let me know and I will check on availabilty, prices, etc. (I pass it everyday going t work) And don't forget about hotels in Gallatin Tn. If you look up Hampton Inn Gallatin Tn. It's probably 15 miles from the park next to a Cracker Barrel, Logans, Chilis, O'Charleys, and various other fast food and a Wal-Mart within a block two and its a pretty nice area and a nice little scenic cruise to and from the show....
And have you guys heard of the new "Pancake Hooters" resturant? It's supposed to be a pancake house with small chested girls... Opening soon in a city near you!!! ;)

Sooooooooooooooooooooooo, for now, EVERYTHING is on hold for me.

DZAUTO Mar 9th, 07, 8:48 PM OK, we're home. Good news and good news.
My wife and Zac were on the way home Wed night when she started having heart attack symptoms--------------------including pain/numbness down the left arm. She called me in Seattle, I told her to have Zac take her straight to the em room. That probably was the key her not having any severe damage.
They did the angiogram this morning and the cardiologist said there was no significant blockage. Thus, no procedure was needed-------------at this time. He is simply going to medicate here. Also, no significant damage was indicated to the heart muscle.
So, she got prescriptions for blood pressure, cholestrol and blood thinning, has to rest for a few days before going back to work and has to loose some weight. Can't get much better than that! :D :hurray:
Bill Rose Mar 9th, 07, 9:14 PM Good to hear Tom:thumbsup:

Huge bummer Tom, but as they say, their is a reason for everything, even if it doesn't seem apparent now. Well, barring any unforseen major snow storms coming through again (this is wisconsin you know) we will be leaving tuesday night and pitstopping in Indy over night again. Sure does look like the chevelle will be driven down this year, so the pitstop will give me time to assess any problems with it.

I doubt it Jerry. :(
Waiting on interior...evidently PUI doesn't run '66 wagon interior in two tone Turq very often. They're telling me it could be anywhere from 4-12 weeks.
This project has really slowed down...
onabudget Apr 9th, 07, 8:10 PM Where you been Rob, working on your velle;)
I wish, the project has really slowed as my cam was backordered for about a month. Should be here be the end of the week. I should take me about 2-3 good weeks (between little league and lacrosse games;) ) to get it all together and running right.

onabudget Apr 12th, 07, 7:38 PM I found some old threads for the CB Newbies and the people thinking about attending or trying to plan around a scheduling conflict.
The threads are old so some of the photos are no longer there but the common thread of the 'People' aspect of the event and what it means to the die-hard ACES members carries on through the test of time.
