It's 11:35, most everything is packed in the little trailer and I'm going to bed. The alarm is set for 6am. Zac and I will put last minute items in the car in the morning, go get ice for the ice chests (and maybe pick up a DVD player at Walmart so we can watch movies along the way) and we should be on the road about 7am! :hurray:

I'm sorry to report that this is the first time since '98 I'm not going to make it.
I'll miss everyone.
I have decided to go to the NHRA Nats in Joliet instead. Since the first time I went to CB the Nats have been the weekend before. For the past threee years they have been on the same weekend. I still kept getting my tix, then passing them along. This year I want to go to the races.
I went to Springfield, Il. yesterday for the HotRod Power Tour. That was fun too.
Of all the people and cars there it was a hoot to run into some Chevelle friends there too. The coolest thing was running into a long distance hauler for sure Bob Wilcox from Maryland. He drives the wheels off it anywhere. Say hi to him again for me. Hope his radiator holds up.
I have talked to T-man and the Pa. possi and there are on the way.
Someone please keep those guys well hydrated for me. :beers:

Someone needs to take my place and keep those guys and my parking lot buddys up till dawn. :beers:

I just got home from show set up at the park. The tents are up and the field is striped for parking. Swappers and venders were also getting ready. I got a good deal on a fender for my 68 and saved on the shipping. The hotels are filling up and people are out driving their Chevelles. It is a great time to live in this area. The Mid-South Chevelle Club will be there early tommorow in our bright green shirts. If you have never been to Chevellabration, you are missing out. If you are here I'll see you at the show.

Weather predicts showers starting about noon, strong line of storms headed this way and we have a 40% chance this afternoon around Nashville. Hope they come and go before 5 PM as the 40 mile drive to the race track is scheduled for tonight. No doubt we would not be allowed on the track for our 3-4 laps if it is wet. Not sure I want to get the 69 Vert all dirty driving 40 miles in the rain and then not get to run the track.

Lots of cars coming in yesterday afternoon so field is filling up. Chuck moved the tent this year to opposite end of the show field up on the hill and the breeze is much better there. Might post some photos at noon today if not raining.

More later,

Chuck :D

Well it is almost 3:00 PM here in Goodlettsville and it has been raining since about 12:30 PM and predicted to keep it up for a few more hours. The trip to the Busch Race Track tonight may be wiped out but will check with Chuck H. about an hour. Tomorrow is predicted to be clear but this delay is going to play havoc with the voting because a lot of us had not voted for our favorites and had planned to do it this afternoon by 4:00 PM.

Lots of additional cars were showing up this morning so we may have as many as 400 but I have not heard a predicted total from Chuck H.

I am going to include some photos taken this AM on the next few posts.

CHUCK,
Call me if you find about about the cruise to the speedway. It's 4:30 and the weather looks good from here on out. SChedule says the cruise starts at 6:00. Well, Busch cars are practicing from 7:00 to 9:30. So I'm confused on that one.

The speedway trip was awesome. Made 3-5 laps at 70 or so mph. Just the laps on track was worth the registration fees. If you haven't ever gone to Chevellabration and can work it where you can, I highly recommend it to anyone. Having a blast.

The Speedway trip was great. There were probably 200 to 250 cars there. They picked 10 cars to be in a group photo shoot for Super Chevy magazine. My Beaumont and Chuck's cars were amoung the ones picked for the shoot. Below is a link to the pictures I have taken so far including some from the Speedway.

I'll tell you all about it some other time, it has been an experience for sure. Lesson learned: put more than 15 miles on a fresh car prior to driving it 1000 miles if you don't want to be laying on your back in the gravel:thumbsup:

I really can't think of any part of the car that didn't give me grief. Brakes? yep. Fuel system? yep. Exhaust? yep. Body? Yep.

I am half way home tonight sitting in Lonoke, AR and 6 more hours to Fort Worth tomorrow morning. Should be home by noon or shortly thereafter.

Great event this year, liked the tent being moved to higher ground, liked the additional vendors, got some good stuff at the swap meet area.:D

Splitting the trophy presentation time (9:00 AM) from the BBQ (2:00PM) needs to be evaluated by Chuck and Dave and get some input from the attendees. Nice thought to send the class winners with their cars to the track at 11:30 AM to be exhibited and take a lap before the race but tough because you want to be at the BBQ and track and can't do both. Race doesn't start until 6:00 PM so those class winners who went could be as late 11 PM getting back to the hotels if they stayed for the race and probably missed the Cajun cooking.

Chuck, LaRae, Dave, Tom all make subtle improvements each year to make it better, but the visiting with old friends, making new friends, soaking up the Chevelles, and appreciating what folks have done with their cars is what it is all about.

Keep up the good work ACES1/Dave and company :hurray:

Chuck Nixon

Amen to that, Chuck! The events were awesome, yet again. And Thanks to all the Mid South guys and gals that organized one of the premier car events in the country, and were there to make sure everything went smoothly.

My only suggestion would be to bring back Famous Dave's! Their BBQ is better and they provide cornbread!! :D

Got home at 1:30 am today. That 9 hours coming home is such a bummer after all the nice folks you have to leave in the rearview mirror.

Hope to see you all next year!

I got home about 4:30 PM. This was my first Chevellabration but it won't be my last. I had a great time, saw plenty of nice cars and met a lot of good people. The only bad experience I had was about midnight last night when the desk clerk at the motel called and told me I had to move my truck and/or trailer so someone could park in the space. I was sleeping good too. It took 2 hours to get back to sleep.

I got home early this afternoon. Had a great trip. Except for a brief storm Thurs afternoon, the weather was great. Met a bunch of TC'ers during the 3 day event. One experience worth mentioning was the laps around the Nashville Speedway in the back seat of Tom Rightlers Chevelle.

I'm still not sure how he did it because my eyes were closed most of the time, but even with the pace car going around the track at 50 mph, Tom still managed to get that 70 Chevelle up over 100 mph..

It was sure a lot of fun from inside the car.

We got home around 4:30 this afternoon after a 7 hour drive. We had a great time at the track and thanks to everyone who voted for the car to get us into the top three - we had a great time at the race!!! The race fans at Nashville Superspeedway really got into all the Chevelles parked on the Plaza in front of the race track.

Also - Thanks for the 20 some guys who helped me change the carb on Friday night. That really did the trick - the car is running really well!!!

Also - Thanks to my Canadian friends who helped me put some special graphics onto the car for our trip to the track!!!

I can't thank Tom (DZAuto) and his son Zach nearly enough for allowing us to ride with them Friday.

I'll post pics in a day or two, but with over 400+, it'll take a few minutes...

Great job Mr. Hanson, and to the Mid-South folks that helped run the event, you all did a great job!

Dave, it was great to finally meet you. I met Cooppertop ( Joe H) as well. Very cool. Great time! Took us 11 1/4 hrs, since Donovan was awake for most of the ride so we had to stop. ( I just turn my kidneys off when I make long pulls!)

What fun! Sorry to hear of Chuck's dad's passing, but so as not to end on any sour notes...

the banked track ride was cool!

And whoever took a "candid" photo of me under the car "lengthening the clutch rod in my swimsuit", is going to get a rath of doom from me next year! I will come armed with many gigs of card space, and I wont be afraid to sue it!@

Its was very, VERY nice to be back after a few year hiatus.

The auction ran LONG, and I would suggest to Chuck that many of the smaller items, or less novel ones, could be displayed and a chinese auction done. I know auctions are all the rage but, if that one gets longer Chuck might lose participants, and not gain dough!

Speaking of dough, CB is the only place I ever get an offer for Old Red. From Old Man, a Goodletsville resident and Mid South Chevelle Volunteer , everytime he sees 'em. Too funny. Maybe I should swap Old Man for his really, really nice 65 400 2X4 sbc A/C car for a while !

What nice folks you meet there. Just like that.

Thanks to all you pitched in to make it happen. The individual contributions come both great and samll, but everyone seems to throw something in the jumbaliya pot, which is why its a big success!

Anyway, great to see old familiar faces ( hey dammit, no one has aged BUT ME! WT...!?)

Happy trails to all, catch ya next time!

We'll be there next year, but we'll probably bring the '69 instead of the wagon, (or whichever one runs) as it gets nearly double the fuel mileage... Stroller, Playpen, and other bulky infant necessities will get loaded in Dan Williams' bus if we don't have room. :)

I personally wouldn't mind having the same people back again next year, but I was never there for a Famous Daves BBQ year.

Not sure, but I would imagine that Famous Daves is considerably more expensive to get to come in, and with Chuck already having to raise the cost this year when he didn't want to, I think the place this year was the alternative. Again I have no idea and I am just tossing it out there, but like any other business I'm sure there are places where Chuck has to weigh out cost and make decisions based on that. I am certain he doesn't want to keep raising the price of CB or reduce other services we get by coming as this will only lead to less participation. I personally felt this was an excellent alternative.

Maybe I am all wrong too.

The funny thing about barbecue is, everybody's taste is different. Doesn't matter who's BBQ you're talking about, some people will love it and some will not. Unfortunately, I've never actually been able to stick around for the Saturday CB lunch, but from eating in their restaurants Famous Dave's is OK. Usually the best barbecue is from some local hole-in-the-wall though.

While we are critiquing;; I have been to every Chevellabration to date. Also, I am involved in 4 major national shows around the country. Okay. What I didnt get about this year's Chevellabration was the way it started breaking up around noon on Saturday,,,,which at most shows is the apex time of the weekend. We got there at noon to see people trailering their cars out and vacant spots all over the show field. Looked like they already gave out trophies, which excuses people to leave in most cases. Then, the bar-b-que went down and everyone disappeared,,,,causing the vendors to shut down. At that point we left, a bit disappointed - and scrapped the idea of showing up on Sunday. The CMA music fest downtown provided more than adequate filler. Can someone shed some light on this?? Was "the" show mainly on Friday? If so, that is not good planning for those who decided not to take off work. Correct me if I'm out of line here.

The show dates were june 7th thru the 9th. No show on Sunday. I like this set up, yes it "forces"(;)) me out of work for four days of a week, but with no show on sunday, those of us that travel almost 800 miles or more can still be back to work on monday and not cut into another week of work. I myself didn't like the trophy presentation being at 9:00 am saturday morning, the show field was fairly baron saturday afternoon. I liked it better last year with the BBQ/ trophy's/ auction all in one sit down time. For me it felt like a better wrap up to the weekend. Although I would think that the fellows that got to go out to the Busch race on saturday liked it better this way.

This was my first & maybe only time going to the show. While I loved all of the great cars & people that were there. The show seemed to start on Thursday with Friday being the big day. It rained in the middle of the day which caused havoc, many if not most of the cars left the show which that the day the peoples judging was being done so I was only able to get 1/2 my votes in because they still wanted the votes turned by 2 or 3 oclock even though there were only a few cars left & who wants to look at cars in the rain. There was also the trip to Nashville Superspeedway Friday. The Busch cars had a late pratice session due to the rain & the cars were not allowed in until after 8 oclock. There was also an incendent where some cars were passing other cars on the track & they were brought in early, there was nothing said about this before they were allowed on the track by anyone. The trophys were given early Saturday so the winners could go back to the speedway. I know alot of cars did leave after that. I left before the BBQ myself because there was not much left to look at & I wasn't interested in the auction. I was also disapointed with the vendors or lack thereof at what should have been a goldmine for them. I left with only a few parts because the vendors there only seemed to have a small amount with them. I do understand what is involved with a show this size but maybe they should ask everyone that attended for feedback before next years show.

I must be mixed up. I even took my car last year. Guess we did go down on Friday. Did the BBQ happen that early in the day? Anyways, to keep complaining,,,, that timeline doesnt cater to the spectators much. At other shows they hold the tropies til Sun afternoon to keep everyone there. That ploy is annoying to some, as well. All in all, it is one of the best shows around.

djw
Jun 12th, 07, 3:11 PM
I think the winners being invited to display their cars at the speedway Saturday really changed the "normal" routine a lot. And the rain showers on Friday didn't help either. I think the primary auction was on Friday last year...just before the cruise to the speedway. Saturday is usually very relaxed with open parking. The meal and the awards following usually begin around 1:00 or so with everyone leaving after that.

Yeah, but what else could be done. I think having the show open yet on Sunday would be a huge disappointment to most spectators, as those of us that don't live 2 hours away (mike;)) would likely be leaving town very early sunday morning anyways to get back to work on monday.

The only difference this year is the 'Top 3 Awards' were given out Saturday morning so they can be part of the Busch Event, as the show goes on the remainder of the day. Any filtering off of cars is the decision of the participants, not the organizers or event schedule. I didn't leave the show field until about 5:30 on Saturday.

The BBQ, Peoples Choice, Presidents Pick, and Closing Ceremony were held at 2PM as is normal on Saturday. The Charity auction although it ran a bit long is entertaining as well as for a good cause, so I don't understand how anyone wouldn't be interested in it.

As the keeper, the cash giveaway was done at the very end nearly 5PM and the Cam Hanson Award just before that.

In reality the 'show' starts on Wednesday afternoon and doesn't end until very late Saturday night. If this is news to anyone... I'd surely ask "where have you been hiding?"

I agree with Rob...
Other than the Top Three awards being given out earlier on Saturday to allow the winners time to attend the Speedway display, the rest of the event was held as in previous years.
Even the "annual" afternoon rain storm was right on queue. ;)

I really enjoy the auction, even though this year I kept getting outbid:mad:;)

If my car were running the way it should have been, and I didn't need to keep some money in the wallet for a "just in case" on the drive home, I wouldn't have been outbid on the steering column or the Zex nitrous kit.

I am happy to have been outbid though, thats just more money for the food bank:thumbsup:

Plus it's just plain fun to listen to Ernie Cassamus and the way he gets people to bid.:D

Me either, and I was only gone friday for maybe 1/2 hour or so, then it was right back to the show field. I don't care if my car sits in rain, but the hail threat- well I did run from that:)

I"m just saying it wouldn't hurt to "scoot" the event back a day. You will leave work one day later, and likewise you will miss work on Monday. Besides, it'd be easier driving home on Monday, right? provided you don't catch rush hour in a major city.

I''d go if it was mid-week!!

Thanks to the guy for mentioning that next year they need to fill those holes up by the tent. Sure shortened my weekend! The wife is back on her feet again, no broken bones but still has a limp.

As a first timer I was very impressed with the organization of the event and helpful staff.

I would have never imagined that the quality of the cars would be so good.

I personally enjoyed watching the cars roll in at the beginning of the day and even when they were leaving for the storm. Nothing like the sound of a big block!

Next time I will get there on Wed or Thursday to take in more of the "owner" activities such as the Drags and show and shine when people are nearby their cars.

If I was disappointed in anything it was the small size of the swap meet area, not sure how more vendors could be encouraged to come.

Overall I had fun and would go again.

Personally, I like the schedule as is, except for the timing of the auction. With 9 hours to get home, I wouldn't want the struggle of rush hour(s) traffic on a Monday morning in Cincinnati, Columbus and Pittsburgh to deal with, too. Leaving Saturday afternoon is fine with me. Let's the working members of the family have time to chill out for a day at home before heading back to the mines.

I would suggest pushing the auction up to mid afternoon on Thursday or Friday (say 3 or 4:00), after the day's car show activities are winding down, but before the evening festivities/cruise/drag strip trips get underway.

Not sure how many people stuck around for the auction this year. We excused ourselves as soon as the BBQ was over so as to get on the road. Got home at 1:30 am as it was. Based on the the number of people exiting the tent, we weren't alone. I'd bet the proceeds would have been even greater had more people participated.

Other than auction timing, I wouldn't change a thing schedule wise.

This was my first time at Chevellabration. For the most part, I thought the show was well planned out. There was plenty to do during and after the show every day. I don't have a problem with the show being Thursday thru Saturday. I'd say most of the car owners had at least 6 to 7 hour drives to get home. By ending Saturday, they had Sunday to get home and rest up before work on Monday. The only problem I had was that so many cars and almost all the vendors were gone by 1 or 2 o'clock on Saturday. Everyone that had a car at the show had plenty of time to look at all the cars but the spectators that waited until Saturday missed a lot of cars.

OK, my turn.

1. Turn down the speakers. My one good ear is still ringing and if you attend seminars you can't hear them.

2. I like Famous Dave's food a little better but that's a matter of choice. Just be sure to read the warning label on the sauce :D

3. I don't go to these shows for auctions. It was my own fault for sitting through most of it. The $1,000 appears to be a tease to get people to sit through it. (just my opinion) But with odds of 300:1............. Next year I'll be going back to the room for an afternoon nap.

4. I love going to the drags and enjoyed the speedway. It was a blast when my wife got to drive it. Last year we went a lot faster but with 300 people with varied experience I can see why they put limits on.

5. Overall I thought the show was geat again. I plan on going back next year. My thanks to Chuck, the Mid-South Club and all who helped and participated.

(pst.... Chuck, ask your buddy to turn down the speakers please.......)

OK after attending my 9th Chevellabration here is my $0.02 worth:

Agree with BobFMTyler and others, famous Dave's BBQ much better and the chicken much more tender with more variety in the fixins. I for one would pay $3-5.00 more per ticket for Dave's BBQ.
While I don't do the drags I have a great time having dinner with others who also don't do them or visit with a relative who lives in Nashville.
Trip to the Speedway is lots of fun and to see the permagrins on folks faces is worth the trip. If it had not rained Friday afternoon we might have been on the track at 6:30 or 7:00 PM instead of 8:00 PM but those Busch cars needed the practice laps
I left the show field not because of the rain Friday afternoon but had to go buy a new battery. The car sat at the hotel and was rained on and no worse for wear
I too left after the BBQ around 3:30 PM and several auction items sold but I could tell from the pace of things it was going to be a long afternoon. I always leave Sat. afternoon to split my 13 hour drive into two days.
My experience suggests perhaps there could be a silent auction from 10:00AM -2:00PM Saturday morning and it closes when the BBQ starts. Then you have 6-10 live auction items that will bring the big bucks after the BBQ is over. I have seen this be very successful at a lot of charity events and suckers like me end up bidding on the live auction stuff cause I love "gambling fever" it sometimes whips up.
Actually I thought there were more vendors this year than the last several years including more swap meet folks. Too bad there are not more but Goodlettsville is a long way from anywhere for some of these folks and remember the public does not get in free, it is $10.00 a head and most folks won't pay to get into a swap meet.
Sorry I missed the Team Chevelle photo but we did not have it organized very well this year and I was at the hotel checking out.
I agree that Dave the DJ could either lower the sound a bit or disperse more speakers for better coverage and therefore not have it so loud, but more speakers is more money for him to come up with.
Really liked the tent up on the hill but I too fell with a BBQ sandwich in my hand when I stepped in a hole and I have a skinned knee to prove it. Need a safety patrol with shovels and buckets of dirt to fill in the holes prior to the show opening.
The voting this year was disrupted by the rain although I turned my ballot sheet in at 5:00 PM. I will admit I walked around a wet field and voted on the cars that were left as I had not started my voting until 4:00 PM.
I thought the hotel parking lot crowds were very well behaved and no burnouts that I am aware of. I was not there Saturday night for the Cajun food but understand it was packed and fun.
I guess the only change I might suggest is to start the BBQ at noon and awards at 1:00 PM, then follow with the live auction as suggested above and let those who have to leave on Saturday get a head start by 3:00 PM.All said and done it is a great event put on by mainly volunteers and you can't please everyone all the time.

My Turn :). This was my 6th Chevellabration and I'll be back next year. It's my favorite car show to go bar none, nothing beats it. My only complaint is that it's 13 hours away!!!, but well worth the ride. Just as an opinion, I'd like to see the auction items broken up into 2 days. That drug on way too long. I like the schedule as it is ending on Saturday afternoon. I usually get on the road right after the BBQ and awards are over generally around 5:30. I only leave then b/c it's 13 hours and I have to be back at work on Monday. I'd love to stick around for the cajun cookout and I keep dudding out b/c of the whole work thing. Next year, I am adjusting my time off for the week accordingly. I'm going to put in for the following Monday off. That gives me ample time to get home on Sunday and have an extra "breather" day. The DJ speakers do need to be turned down a tad bit. I'm also getting a room at the Best Western for next year.

There were ZERO comments about the Muncie that I rebuilt to donate to the auction last year, but apparently there were a few this year who would like to have had the rebuilt tilt, floor shift column that I donated. So, if I can locate another tilt column to rebuild (or 2 or 3) by CB08, I'll donate another one.
We had a good time and I think everything went quite well--------------------EXCEPT the slow white pace car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(
For the first timers, understand this, EXPECT rain at CB! Last year was the first time that I haven't seen rain at CB.

the only part of the show I didn't like was me not winning the money:(
as far as the show not being liked by all,I'm sure that everyone there would change something about it,but as far as me I'm not complaining because this show is put on by only a handfull of people and I would be willing to bet that none of them are professional car show promotors. So in recollect I think it is and always has been a superbly run show and just for the record I would probably be there even if it wasn't one of the premier club shows of any type in the country.
I've been to everyone but 2002 and if the barbecue is all we have to complain about I think we're doing pretty good:thumbsup:
BTW I thought Famous Dave's was maybe better but I'm not complaining, especially after two full plates,I did like the boneless chicken breasts better than the normal bone-in chicken in the years past.MY.02

This was my 10th CB (only missed the first in '97) and I would echo many of Chuck Nixon's suggestions, especially about the silent auction. I would like to see Saturday's schedule go back to the way it was before this year. BBQ at 2pm with awards after. Maybe work it out so cars going to the race don't go til 4:00 PM or so.

Sorry to have started such a huge debate with my dum comments on the schedule. I've attended too many car shows, couldnt remember how Chevellabration was timed out. After all that, looks like the main theme is that it's one of the best shows around with few areas of improvment. Holes, speakers, auction, BBQ vendor, and schedule. Easy stuff. As far as the schedule goes, not sure that is a problem. I personally, still think it could be slipped a bit so there is a show going on during the peak of the day Saturday. Maybe have the BBQ later (5 PM) with awards. That is going to chafe everyone who is used to packing it for the road mid-day Sat, to be at work Monday. It would also impact the Cajun event and others. I drove 6 hours myself, arrived at noon, and paid for 2 people to enter the gate. Came as a spectator to see a car show. From our viewpoint, there wasnt much to see. On the other hand.... we were lonely walking around while everyone was at the BBQ tent. Meaning, this is not much of a spectators kind of car show anyway. If you are coming to it, you are coming specifically for Chevelles. You also plan by what the schedule is. (like I said, I forgot how early it shut down). I guess the issue is that it's just not the norm for a car show to be over early on Saturday. Sorry, that two cents went over a dollar, I'm done.

Yes, your right. This event is geared more towards the participants rather than spectators. Most ACES members who attend without cars, pay the normal registration to be part of the event rather than just a spectator.

In my opinion, this isn't so much a car show as a car event. If you are not registered for CB and getting in to all the activities with the group I can definitely see where a spectator would be bored with it. I don't go to it thinking we are driving 11 hours to go to a car show, I go to it thinking we are driving 11 hours for the most fun that can be had with a group of chevelle fans.

Quite honestly, if you are going to a car show for the action, this is the wrong one for you, as CB is rather tame. We go to the CarCraft summer nationals in St. Paul Minn. every other year or so, now thats an action packed car show. Dyno on-site, burnout after burnout, and the cars just keep coming. The crowd at CarCraft I feel is a much younger crowd or at least act younger, because burnouts and using the cars power are all encouraged. The main part of CB is a bunch of chevelle owners drinking beer together.

OK my turn :)

I thought the $1000 prize was very much improved over last year :D

OK all kidding aside.

The tent on the hill was a big improvement. Much breezier.

I thought the food was fine. It's picnic food anyway. I'd be OK with hotdogs and a Coke, but the BBQ sandwich hit the spot.

The air filled bouncey things should stay through Saturday. My daughter had a big disappointment Saturday morning when they were gone.

The schedule is different than a normal car show, because CB is not a normal car show. It's a car event. The days are perfect. The timing of the events on Saturday is kind of unavoidable. When you start having many things to do, conflicts are inevitable. Personally, I would have loved to go to the speedway Saturday if I were a top three winner. Perhaps in the future those who go should be allowed to win the $1000 if their name is drawn and they aren't there because they're at the track.

We need to profusely thank those who donated for the auction, especially the individuals. Taking the time to rebuild a tilt column or a Muncie and then donate it to a charity auction is something we all should aspire to.

I think the idea of a silent auction for the little stuff, then 6 or 10 big items for the live auction.

I think people kept the bad behavior to a minimum, which is good. I'd hate for a great event to be ruined by people with adult bodies and 5th grade brains.

Awards - I would like to see a few different or "fun" awards added, like a mileage award, a hard luck award (Jeff, you might qualify for this one :) ), best paint job, best wheels, most horsepower, best engine compartment, most unusual engine combo, etc. Perhaps a couple of new classes could be added, like a "driver" class for those people who have a nice car but actually drive it to events instead of bringing it inside a felt and cotton lined trailer, or for those whose Chevelle is their daily transportation. Consideration/recognition should also be given to those Chevelles still in possession of the original owner (perhaps allowing them into the survivor class even if they don't meet the criteria exactly).

Oh yeah, and since Ernie apparently has a new car every other year ( he's a big scrap yard guy down there - yes?) , might I suggest he have a Smokey Yunick 66 built specifically for the Speedway run!

Not that I'm trying to spend Ernie's scrap money, but that'd be tops!

Could do it relatively low budget and Ebay it off for a profit when done.

I would have to agree with pretty much all of this other than the silent auction. I liked the auction, even if it did run long. It is entertaining to watch and you have to remember this is for charity. The idea is not to get it done and over with as fast as possible, but to get as much money as possible out of us for the charity. A silent auction isn't going to get people to open up their wallets like a live auction will.

It's spelled Jambalaya, but down here in the Jambalaya capital of the world it's pronounced Jumbaliya. We all cook it, raised on it, and to be honest with you, you get sick of eating it sometimes. Cooking Jambalaya, Boiling Crawfish, cooking Gumbo, is just what Men do down here. Most every event (Weddings, parties, get togethers, etc.) there will more than likely be a pot of Jambalaya!

This was my first, but not my last CB...can't wait for CB08! One of the vets said it best: it's about the people and the shared experience. Met some great folks, traded notes, and won a LI Chevelle club shirt...what a trip!
