: Can you "bondo" an oil pan? (outside!)

Will be able to beat and bang a few dents out of a BBC oil pan. Will Bondo or other plastic hold up over time, if I use it as a filler? I didn't know if the heat of the oil will cause it to lose grip, etc.

If no, any other recommendations?

Thanks

Well, that oil pan shouldn't get over about 220 degrees. I did this once on a 58 chev show car and didn't have any problems. But IMO you would be much better off with Body Solder (LEAD), as it will be less suseptable to problems related to expansion, etc.

You also wouldn't want it to thick.

Flye, why don't you fill in the dented areas in with solder? fill it in sand it smooth paint it your done don't have to worry about heat cold etc. Marty

Go for it! If you try that nasty solder use a good resperator!!!

But if your hammer dolly skills are up to par use the modern plastic filler!
