I think that was crowenate, but he hasn't posted here since Nov. 2005. Does anyone know what happened to him, and did his disappearance have anything to do with the group buy?

Yes Bill we do installs. Installs for Sure Fit systems run $1000 to $1200 (20 hours) depending on how hard it is to remove some old rusty items like wheel wells. What we usually do is give a hard number with a couple opens, like the wheel well, with a cap on those opens also of a couple hours unless we find out the wheel house is welded in, like last week!

Scott, I am fairly certain you are referring to a Sure Fit system. Fyremtn is looking for the new Gen IV system which will be a component system until VA makes a complete 67 Chevelle "kit" like the Sure Fit was. But the Gen IV component kit should only be a few dollars more and is a fantastic option for a smooth firewall car. We are anxiously awaiting the unveiling of the Gen IV Camaro and Chevelle retrofit systems.

Bill

Might be this is a chance for me to return the favors you did for me on the Interior Paint and the tip on the A/C hose crimper guy over in Woodstock.

I can show you all that I have done on a VA Gen II install if you want to see it.. Not likely I would take on the install for you but if you want to see what can be done let me know.

I came up with a few cool ideas that make servicing the system and quickly Removing or Re-Installing at a later date should the need arise. I would be glad to share the details. Literally I can rip the unit out in about 10 minutes due to the use of some well positioned "studs" to mount the interior unit to the firewall. The dash is more or less apart right now and you can see clearly everything I did.

Let me know if I can help

Cool stuff. I know I will have questions when I install mine. I bought It almost 2 years ago and its still sitting in the box it came in waiting for the rest of the car to come together. Mine suposedly uses all servo motors and requires no vacuum. thats good because the motor has no vacuum.

Just a quick TIP in using the hose crimper with the hoses already installed on the car. I removed my battery and bolted the Vintage Air supplied crimper tool, (rented) onto my battery plate. It worked great!!! In case you don't know, it's dame near impossible to use the crimping tool while the hoses are on the car unless you come up with a way to use a vice to hold the crimper somewhere in the engine compartment, (good luck). Anyway, for all its worth, the Vintage Air guys do a great job on providing detailed instructions for every aspect of the install. I am not a professional mechanic and I found it really easy to install. My advise, (for what it's worth) is that you just take your time if you're a novice.
