I just installed my steering box after having it rebuilt with a 12:1 fixed ratio. Wow! what a difference. I only put a few miles on the car but it feels so much better. Of course now I can tell how much the car dives in the front during turns. On to the suspension!!

Go to Autozone and order a 6563. It is not a standard part number but they can order it from ATSCO. It is a quick ratio box. There are only 3 different ratio boxes from saginaw. A 9,7, and 6 groove. Most common are the 9 and 7. If you use a 6 turn piston you should have 2.5 turns lock to lock. But I don't recommend doing it your self.

Is the 6563 a complete steering gear box? And if so is it a power steering set-up?

It is a complete box. Its a standard box with a 6 grove worm in it.
