2nd 2 Noss,
20 inch wheels look great on chevelle's. I have them on my 96 Impala SS. I would definitely upgrade your break system if you have'nt already. The 20 inch wheels tend to be alittle heavier and you'll notice that right away in the steering. It's all about what you like, not what others think. This subject was taked about 2 weeks ago as posted " those ugly wheels" you may want to search that topic. Some of the old tymers have a had time with new concepts. Some believe the chevelle should be left to only look stock. Other's really like the car to fit there personality. It's nice to see those that think outside the box. I say buy the wheels and decide what looks best. Good luck. Joel:D

Yes,they will fit easily,if the backspacing is around 5". Just don't get too carried away with the tire diameter and you shouldn't have any clearance concerns.

BTW,don't let the dinosaur boys discourage you. :D

You never did tell us the offset or backspace on those wheels.

I don't really have my heart set on a set of rims. I seen some don't know the backspace. i just wanted to see if anyone was running 20's to get a idea of way i need in backspace.

Do 20's qualify it as a "DONK" then?

I got 18's on mine, and love it. I didnt want to go 20's, cause i wanted the old muscle look, 20's for me personally on a Velle doesnt look good. I have a 96 Impala SS, i did throw on 20's on that one, but not the Velle. just my .02

To answer your question. Yes 4.75 BS on a 8.5" rim will work. The 275's will fit under the rear and the 245's will fit under the front with a 8" rim with 4.5"BS.

Unless you want to run little 14's or 15's,it doesn't matter whether they are 16's or 20's. The backspacing requirements pretty much stay the same.
A 20x8.5 wheel with zero offset should fit a 66-72 fine. 245/35 fronts and 275/35 rears would work but I wouldn't run anything larger than a 275. Even that size is pushing it on a 20x8.5".

255 45 18 with a 2" drop on front will definately scrub inner wheel well up front. Rides great without drop (stock height)

Just curious but why such a tall front tire? What diameter are those,,28"-29"?

When I bought the tires the car was stock height. Then I later lowered the front end and found problems with neighberhood streets and some businesses rubbing fender wells. One day I will change the front to 235 and rear to 275.
