: Header Gasket Leak

My son and I swapped out the 305 in his '82 El Camino for a rebuilt 350. We also added some Headman short tube headers. Everything works well except the header gaskets keep burning up and we get that annoying sound under the hood. Is there a better way to tighten these little header bolts? Is there a better gasket that is more forgiving and will hold up?

Thanks,
Griff

use the copper gaskets and black rtv, start car, let it warm up, shut down and re tighten. You should be good to go.
