Was there ever a non cowl hood SS Chevelle offered as a factory option? I guess what I am asking is ............did every SS Chevelle have a cowl hood?

I think that the standard SS hood was domed and the Cowl Induction hood was optional, ZL2, I think was the option RPO in 70-72.

agree with chev64. Doomed hood standard, cowl induction optional.
A lot of folks think that buckets and console were standard on an SS but they also were options, bench seat and column shift were standard.

Cowl Induction was an option.
Also standard in 70-72 SS's was roung gage dash with idiot lights. Tach dash was an added option.
