I have a holly 750 dual feed on my chevelle with an edelbrock air gap intake. I just got a 1 inch aluminum spacer for the carb. I've never installed one and i was wondering what to expect in changes once i fire it up. what will i need to play around with to get it to run just right? air/fuel? idle? both? just wondering what you all have experianced with a spacer. thanks

Probably will have to mess with the carb tuning again, especially if it's an open spacer. It changes the plenum volume a good amount, which will change the metering, etc...try it first before you touch the carb, maybe it wont be too far off. What made you go with a spacer??

You will increase intake plenum volume. This may reduce the "time it takes" for the carb to respond to engine speed/load changes, the carb signal if you will. That may require a stronger accelerator pump shot to add fuel to the engine while until the carb is "able to respond".

um i just got the spacer to try it out see if it does anything at higher rpms, my engine has more torque than horsepower and the top end struggles a tad. I probably on't notice a difference, only in the looks. It's an open spacer but also the intake is open too. throttle responce may hurt from this you say?

Throw it on , everything should be ok . If anything you might find a low rpm stumble , but I doubt it.

I liked it on my dual plane performer RPM manifold (olds). I had the same problem, way more torque than HP; which is why I went with the dual plane to begin with. Honestly, it was the most bang for my buck (next to a dyno tune). I noticed after the install and a very little tweeking of the carb, that I actually started to spin the tires right before I hit second. Id say I gain a few HP but nothing spectacular.

I added a 4 hole 1 inch spacer on a performer RPM and noticed a very big low speed driveability improvement.Grabbing second gear and getting tire spin which it never did before was a blast, although I think that was attributed more to finally getting the carb tuning right than to the spacer itself.
